Brand Name: Ifex
Ifex Solution should only be used under the supervision of a doctor experienced with the use of cancer medicines. Bladder effects (eg, bleeding, inflammation) or central nervous system effects (eg, confusion, coma) may occur with the use of Ifex Solution. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms. Ifex Solution may also cause bone marrow depression.
Ifex Solution is used for:
Treating certain types of cancer in combination with other medicines. It is usually used along with a medicine called mesna, which decreases the risk of bleeding in the bladder.
Ifex Solution is an antineoplastic. It works by stopping the growth of certain cancers.
Do NOT use Ifex Solution if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Ifex Solution
- you have severe bone marrow depression
- you are in your first 3 months of pregnancy
Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.
Before using Ifex Solution:
Some medical conditions may interact with Ifex Solution. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
- if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
- if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
- if you have liver or kidney problems, bone marrow problems, cancer that has spread to the bone marrow, an infection, chickenpox, or shingles
- if you have had radiation therapy or have received other chemotherapy medicines
Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Ifex Solution. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
- Digoxin because its effectiveness may be decreased by Ifex Solution

How to use Ifex Solution:
Use Ifex Solution as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Ifex Solution is usually given as an injection at your doctor's office, hospital, or clinic.
- Do not use Ifex Solution if it contains particles, is cloudy or discolored, or if the vial is cracked or damaged.
- Drinking extra fluids while you are taking Ifex Solution is recommended. Check with your doctor or nurse for instructions.
- If your skin comes into contact with Ifex Solution, wash the skin immediately with soap and water. If a mucous membrane (eg, lips, tongue, nostrils) comes into contact with Ifex Solution, rinse well with water.
- Keep this product, as well as syringes and needles, out of the reach of children and pets. Do not reuse needles, syringes, or other materials. Ask your health care provider how to dispose of these materials after use. Follow all local rules for disposal.
- If you miss a dose of Ifex Solution, contact your doctor right away for dosing instructions.

Important safety information:
- Ifex Solution may cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Ifex Solution with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
- Empty your bladder regularly. Your doctor may recommend that you get up at least once during the night to urinate.
- Ifex Solution may reduce the number of clot-forming cells (platelets) in your blood. Avoid activities that may cause bruising or injury. Tell your doctor if you have unusual bruising or bleeding.
- Ifex Solution may decrease your body's ability to heal itself. To prevent wounds, avoid situations where bruising or injury may occur.
- Ifex Solution may lower the ability of your body to fight infection. Avoid contact with people who have colds or infections. Tell your doctor if you notice signs of infection like fever, sore throat, rash, or chills.
- If nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite occurs, ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist for ways to lessen these effects.
- Check with your doctor before having vaccinations while you are using Ifex Solution.
- Lab tests, including kidney function, complete blood cell count, other blood tests, and urine tests, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
- Use Ifex Solution with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
- Use Ifex Solution with extreme caution in CHILDREN; safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: Ifex Solution has been shown to cause harm to the fetus. If you think you may be pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Ifex Solution while you are pregnant. Ifex Solution is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while using Ifex Solution.
Possible side effects of Ifex Solution:
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:
Hair loss; loss of appetite; nausea.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); blood in the urine or dark urine; coma; confusion; decrease in the amount of urine produced; dizziness; fever, chills, sore throat, or cough; hallucinations; irregular or absent menstrual periods; joint pain; mental or mood changes; painful or frequent urination; seizures; shortness of breath; sleepiness; sores on the mouth or lips; stomach pain; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual fatigue; vomiting; yellowing of the skin or eyes.
